Eco-houses are an opportunity to invest in the future: to live lightly on the Earth. The client decides whether to focus on their low-carbon footprint and emissions, on natural and organic products, or on the quality of air and light in the completed building. For us, sustainability is the key along with ethical and local sourcing of materials.
So, Robert always looks to design something with vernacular types of structural materials and supreme levels of insulation. The possible sources of green heat and power are assessed site by site, to obtain the optimum return and minimal impact. Fundamentally, our eco-designs are conceived to be easy to live in.
“When I walked into Thrift Cottage I felt I could really breathe properly. It made me realize that in most houses the air isn’t fresh.”
